American Football in the NFL: Chiefs and Eagles play the Super Bowl

For the Kansas City Chiefs, the dream of the first “three-peat” in NFL history is alive. Led by flawless quarterback Patrick Mahomes and cheered on by noble fan Taylor Swift, the Chiefs triumphed in a dramatic AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills 32:29 and are aiming to become the first team to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.

The Chiefs will face the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on February 9th. Quarterback Jalen Hurts’ team had previously clearly won the NFL’s first play-off semifinal against the Washington Commanders led by German-American Brandon Coleman 55:23. The Super Bowl is a repeat of 2023, when the Chiefs narrowly prevailed.

“I am at a loss for words. I can’t believe it. I’m so proud of my team. The whole team has done a great job and I’m looking forward to New Orleans. Let’s make history,” said Mahomes after the narrow win at Arrowhead Stadium against the Bills.

Mahomes scored two touchdowns through runs and also set up another through a pass. But it’s “the whole team. If the defense has to stop someone, it does it. If the offense has to do something, we do that too. It’s a team effort,” emphasized the 29-year-old on RTL.

On the other hand, MVP candidate Josh Allen also scored two touchdowns. But that was once again not enough for the Bills against the Chiefs after Harrison Butker decided the game with a field goal with the score at 29:29 a good three minutes before the end. This was the fourth time in the last five duels that the Chiefs destroyed the Bills’ dreams in the post-season.

Kansas City, on the other hand, is in the NFL finals for the fifth time in the last six years. In 2023, Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. triumphed against Philadelphia (38:35), and last year against the San Francisco 49ers (25:22 OT).
