Basketball: with 93% filling rate, French rooms are breaking crowds

French basketball is doing well. Whether with its national teams – both left with the silver medal at the Paris Games this summer -, in the NBA with Victor Wembanyama or in its own national competitions. This Monday, the National Basketball League (LNB), which manages the Betclic Elite (the first division) and the Pro B, communicated the crowds in the rooms during the first leg of the championships. Figures in a hause which confirms the current craze around the large orange ball.

“At the end of the first fifteen days of the championship, the Betclic Elite clubs have evolved in rooms filled with 93% (Against 85% in mid-season in 2023-2024, previous record), representing an average crowd of more than 4,000 spectators, historic figure for the LNB at the end of the first leg (4,047 spectators) ”, Said the body in a press release.

According to the LNB, half of Betclic’s meetings took place in attic rooms. “The JL Bourg Basket, Cholet Basket, Rochelais Basket and Saint-Quentin Basketball clubs have even played all of their home-closed-looking home meetings,” continues the League.

During the first leg, the tributary record is to be put to the assets of the Asvel club which had attracted 11,675 spectators to the LDLC Arena for the arrival of Paris Basketball (during the 22nd day). The capital’s club attracts an average of 6023 spectators for its matches with a point at 8584 for the arrival of Bourg during a delocalized match at Accor Arena.

In Pro B, Orléans welcomed nearly 10,000 spectators in his Co’met for the arrival of Poitiers.

“In total nearly a million spectators have therefore completed the Betclic Elite and Pro B basketball rooms in mid-season, an increase of 7% compared to the previous season,” savor the LNB. “A historic figure for basketball” and increasing constancy for two seasons.

“The figures are exceptional and demonstrate that the Elite Betclic has passed in another dimension,” appreciates Fabrice Jouhaud, Managing Director of the LNB. We have dominant clubs in Europe, bastions that strengthen and expand their rooms to meet the demand of a new, more feminine, younger and more family audience. It is remarkable to see that the work undertaken by our clubs finds a concrete translation with more and more people attracted by the total spectacle which is proposed and by the intensity of the matches. It is an encouragement to continue and accelerate our transformation to occupy our entire place in the entertainment sector. »»

The tributary record on a match is owned by Nanterre who had attracted 16,319 in 2023 for his event match in Paris La Défense Arena. A record that the club will try to exceed this year, on February 28, when Gravelines come.
