Steen Olsen wins in Schladming

Alexander Steen Olsen won the World Cup giant slalom from Schladming and added a surprising defeat to Topplavor Marco Odermatt. Just in the dress rehearsal for the World Championships in early February, the Swiss World Cup dominator did not celebrate its fourth giant slalom success after the other. Instead, Steen Olsen prevailed 0.39 seconds ahead of his Norwegian teammate Henrik Kristoffersen.

Odermatt (+0.60) saved the podium after a failed first run and intermediate rank twelve as third. Previously, the Swiss had either won in 18 World Cup giant slices or had left. In the discipline and overall ranking, Odermatt still claimed his leadership.

Just a DSV driver in the final – hope of slalom on Wednesday

As expected, the German starters did not play a role in the fight for podium places on the Planai slope in adverse conditions with partly dense fog and snowfall. Only Stefan Luitz made it into the final round and ended up in 29th place (+2.35).

On Wednesday, the DSV chances are significantly higher when Linus Straßer in slalom (5.45/8.45pm/BR and Eurosport) goes into the race as a previous year. The Munich team is still waiting for his first podium in the season. The shape curve to the World Cup, which begins in Saalbach-Hinterglemm next week, recently went up in four races with three top 6 positions.
