CyberDelincuentes take advantage of the Chinese New Year to create online ‘fraudulent stores

Experts Cybersecurity have warned that during the days before Chinese New Year 2025which is celebrated this Wednesday, the number of fraudulent websites in which gifts are promoted with discounts whose payments end up in the hands of the scammers has been triggered.

This event, held throughout the world, as well as its growing popularity “makes it an attractive objective for cybercriminals, taking advantage of once more about global trends and consumer enthusiasm and festive spirit,” explained the expert in Kaspersky Olga Svistunova security.

The cybersecurity firm has indicated that on these dates different fraudulent ‘online’ stores have been created to attract possible buyers with attractive offers and create a feeling of urgency to make a purchase quickly.

However, once the bank data is introduced and the payments are made, the scammers disappear, leaving consumers around the world without that money and without their purchases.

Kaspersky has also pointed out that in other scams discovered the scammers did not even bother to “update” the selection of products in their stores. In this way, they maintained the decoration articles of the symbol last year, the dragon, instead of changing them for this year, the snake.
