The ICO Museum proposes an exhibition dialogue between ‘Vollard Suite’ of Picasso and engravings by Juan Genés or Manolo Valdés

The exhibition ‘The Vollard Suite of Picasso and the Spanish engraving in the collection of the ICO Museum’ will be inaugurated on February 13, a sample that raises an exhibition dialogue between the top work of the engraving, the ‘Vollard Suite’ -which will be exhibited Complete-, and a selection of engravings and paintings made by artists such as Juan Genés, Eduardo Arroyo, Manolo Valdés, Miguel Ángel Campano or Darío Villalba.

On the occasion of this exhibition, a total of 54 engravings and 8 paintings of prominent artists can be seen, almost entirely awarded the National Award of Plastic Arts in the decades of the 80s and 90s of the 20th century, such as Juan Manuel Díaz-Caneja, Manuel Boix, Albert Ràfols-Casamada, Joan Hernández Pijuan, Luis Gordillo, José Hernández, Eduardo Arroyo, Rafael Canagar, Josep Guinovart, Lucio Muñoz, Alfonso Fraile, Manolo Valdés, Darío Villalba, José Caballero, Manuel Hernández Mompó, Juan Genoese, Guillermo Pérez Villalta and Juan Barjola.

The selection is completed with the Nine Nine Night animals, by Miguel Ángel Campano (National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1996) and Dadá Collection, by Fernando Bellver (National Prize for Graphic Art in 2008). It is a set of engravings that this time are exhibited along with some of the paintings of these same artists, which allow to appreciate the variety of disciplines they practiced and the stylistic constants common to some and other works.

The exhibition, curated by the art area of ​​the ICO Foundation and composed of works acquired by the Official Credit Institute (ICO) in the 90s, connected with the main mission with which the ICO Museum was born: the conservation and dissemination of Your collections.

The sample, according to the institution, constitutes a unique opportunity to approach works that are not usually exposed to the public and, especially, to observe one of the scarce complete sets that exist in the world of the Picasso Vollard Suite, which was exhibited integrate For the last time in the capital more than a decade ago, in 2012.

The exhibition will be open to the public until July 20 and will have a dissemination program that, through guided tours and dynamic activities, will bring the works and their authors closer to all visitors using the practices that identify the ICO Museum as a constant laboratory For accessibility.

In this sense, the exhibition will have materials adapted to the easy reading route, signing language interpreter (ILSE) on demand for all the activities offered, and proposals designed for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
