Multiple shoppers unwell after climate activists throw liquid in Dutch H&M

According to a bystander, several people threw the liquid into the store and the activists then fled away. The action caused panic among both employees and customers. A few people suffered from their airways. Fire brigade, police and ambulance were on site to treat people.

Extinction Rebellion mentions the action on a pamphlet that was left behind ‘Stank Sabotage Campaign’, with a reference to Ode Aux Ratsss (Ode to the rats). This French movement would be committed to the fast-fashion industry, reports Omroep West.

The police do not yet know what kind of liquid has been thrown, but it was concluded after an investigation that the substance is not harmful.

Demonstration on A10

It is not the first time that Dutch members of Extinction Rebellion (XR) have taken action this week. Last Saturday, demonstrators blocked the A10. Due to the demonstration, part of the A10 at Amsterdam Zuid station was closed for traffic for about 45 minutes. XR took action against ING, the former office of which is along the highway, due to the financing of the fossil industry. During the A10 promotion, the police arrested a total of around 190 climate activists.
