Again hazing is getting out of hand: Dutch students fall blast after hours of ‘Lucifer’ standing in the freezing cold

In the Netherlands, hazing at the Hotel Management School Maastricht got out of hand. At least two participants reported to the GP station last weekend with exhaustion symptoms. Other students fainted.

The hazing was organized by student association Amphitryon and lasted from Friday evening to Monday morning. A group of about one hundred freshmen participated.

A source tells The Limburger That the participants had to stand “as quiet as a match” outside in the freezing cold for hours. Whoever moved was reprimanded. Seven students would have fainted, others would be supercooled. One of the young people received an epileptic attack. At night the students would also have been kept out of their sleep.

The management of the Hotel School says it has since started an investigation into what exactly happened. It is not the first time that a hazing of the student association involved is getting out of hand. That also happened in 2018. At the time, physical and verbal violence would have been used against students.
