They discover in Peru Pyramid of Caral Civilization, the oldest in America

Lime. A multidisciplinary team from the Ministry of Culture of Peru (MINCUL) discovered a pyramidal building belonging to the Caral pre -Columbian culture, considered the oldest in America, located in the north of the department of Lima.

The Multidisciplinary Team of the Archaeological Zone Caral found a new pyramidal building in the F sector of the Chupacigarro archaeological settlement. This discovery will contribute to the knowledge of its urban trace and allow its value as part of the tourist circuit of the sacred city of Caralthe ministry reported in a statement.

Chupacigarro is an archaeological settlement that is part of the urban complex of the Caral Civilization, which was developed between the 3000 and 1800 BC. It is almost a kilometer west of the sacred city of Caral, considered the oldest urban center in all of America and the nerve center of that culture.

The MINCUL said that the team in charge of the discovery withdrew weeds and dry trees, revealing stone walls with at least three overlapping platforms.

According to experts, the pyramidal building could have played a private or religious role within the company of Caral.
