The Ukrainian ambassador to Spain believes that the exploitation of ‘rare earth’ will help in reconstruction after the war

The Ukraine ambassador to Spain, Serhii Pohoreltsev, stressed on Wednesday that the exploitation of the so-called ‘rare earth’-a group of minerals present especially in the territories occupied by Russia-by third parties is a factor with which kyiv already told the peace process and that he could help develop the Ukrainian economy after the end of the war.

Pohoreltsev has thus responded to the statements expressed on the eve by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who has offered military help in exchange for exploiting the resources of the ‘rare earth’. At this point, the ambassador has stressed that the peace plan presented months ago by President Volodimir Zelenski contemplates this matter.

“It is very important to have a reliable and powerful partner, who can invest and guarantee the security of these mineral wealth, because a certain part of the wealth is still in the temporarily occupied territories. It is very important to keep them, or not lose them,” he said Pohoreltsev during an act at the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid.

Pohoreltsev has deepened that the exploitation of these natural resources is an aspect of “much interest” for Ukraine, since the participation of third countries and companies “gives the possibility of developing the economy” of the country, opening the door to which Ukraine “is defend through economic development. ”

Thus, the ambassador has recognized that he has not surprised him that President Trump has referred to Ukrainian rare earths and has cataloged the US president as a “very pragmatic” leader who defends the interests of his country. On the United States, the ambassador has said that “it is a friendly country, a socio -country country, a very powerful country, and it is very good to have it as a constant friend.”

Trump returned to the White House defending himself to end the war in Ukraine with just a call to Zelenski or the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, in a few hours. At the moment, Washington has confirmed contacts with both governments, and the Ukrainian ambassador has denied that no kind of negotiation has begun.

On this hypothetical peace process, Pohoreltsev has deepened in one of the red lines of kyiv, and that is that in Ukraine they do not conceive any negotiation without their participation. For the ambassador, the conversations to reach an agreement with Russia should only have the participation of kyiv, Moscow, Washington and the European Union.

“The most important thing is that the vision of the Ukrainian part and the American part in how we can achieve peace, and it is peace through force, not through the appease of the enemy. We have to be strong to be able to celebrate the peace negotiations and accumulate all efforts to achieve true negotiations, “he said.

Forum for Economic Cooperation

The headquarters of the Ukrainian embassy in Madrid has hosted on Wednesday the presentation of the commercial forum ‘Rebirth of Ukraine’, an event that will start on February 25-when three years have already been completed since the beginning of the war-and that will bring together Ukrainian mayors and entrepreneurs in the capital.

The objective of the forum will be to publicize key initiatives for the economic development of Ukraine, devastated by the Russian invasion and in need of basic infrastructure as the Putin army has set their attacks on them. From the Club of the Mayors of Ukraine, one of the promoter entities of the Forum, have highlighted the opportunities offered by the country despite the complex situation.

In this regard, Ambassador Pohoreltsev has recognized that there is “risk” when investing in Ukraine, because “you cannot give a hundred percent security while the enemy continues to attack”, but has deepened that in the country there are “works that work that works that works that work that works that work that works that works that work that works that works that work that works that work that works that work in the country It is already necessary to perform “within the framework of reconstruction, such as energy infrastructure, roads or water systems.
