Campiello Prize, Giorgio Zanchini president of the jury

Born in Rome in 1967, Giorgio Zankini worked in Rai, where he leads several radio and television broadcasts. His main programs include “Radio Anch’io”, “How many stories”, “Rebus” and “5000 years and +”. Author of numerous books, he has published works such as “Culture in the media” (Carocci, 2024), “The Library of the Indecisi” (Mondadori, 2024), “There are Italians exist?” (Rai Libri, 2023) and “The horizontal culture” (with Giovanni Solimine, Laterza, 2020).

Among the novelties of this year, also the entry of three new members in the jury of writers: Rita Librandi, a professor that emerged from Italian linguistics and history of the Italian language and vice -president of the Accademia della Crusca, Liliana Rampello, former aesthetic professor at The University of Bologna, literary criticism and essayist, and Stefano Salis, head of the pages of comments and Sunday of the Sole24ore.

The Il Campiello Foundation, with a press release, expresses “profound gratitude to the outgoing president Walter Veltroni for the dedication and competence demonstrated over the years at the helm of the jury”. Special thanks also goes to the jurors Pierluigi Battista, Edoardo Camurri, Chiara Fenoglio and Emanuele Zinato who had to leave the position due to personal and work commitments, “for the important contribution offered in previous editions”.

The other members of the jury of the literati of the 63/A edition of the Campiello Prize are: Alessandro Beretta, literary critic, journalist, film programmer and cultural promoter; Federico Bertoni, professor of literary criticism and comparative literatures at the University of Bologna; Daniela Brogi, professor of contemporary Italian literature at the University for Foreigners of Siena; Silvia Calandrelli, director of Rai Cultura; Daria Galateria, professor of French literature at the La Sapienza University of Rome; Lorenzo Tomasin, professor of Romance Philology at the University of Lausanne; And Roberto Vecchioni, singer -songwriter, writer, university professor.

With the definition of the jury of the writers, the 63/a edition of the Campiello Prize officially starts. The novels published for the first time in volume between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025 and regularly on the market can participate. The competition are not allowed neither non -fiction, nor poetry, nor works translated into Italian by other languages.

The Campiello Prize, established in 1962 by the industrialists of Veneto, is promoted and managed by the Il Campiello Foundation, composed of the industrial associations of the Veneto and their regional federation. It is one of the few cases of success in Italy of concrete and strategic connection between the world of company and culture, accrediting itself as one of the most important Italian literary competitions.

Over the years, the Campiello Prize has developed in many other initiatives and awards at the service of literature and culture with the aim of involving an increasingly large audience in this important cultural operation: from Campiello Giovani, the competition that turns To the young writers this year at the 30th edition, to Campiello Junior, dedicated to children’s fiction and founded in 2021 in collaboration with the Pirelli Foundation, up to the most recent Campiello Natura – Venice Gardens Foundation Prize, the recognition aimed at dedicated narrative works to nature, conceived and organized in collaboration with the Venice Gardens Foundation Foundation.
