Amazon doubles profit in fourth quarter through “successful” holidays period ever

The net profit amounted to 20 billion dollars (19 billion euros), compared to 10.6 billion dollars (10.2 billion euros) in the fourth quarter of 2023. The total turnover increased by 10 percent in the last three months of last year up to 187.8 billion dollars (181 billion euros).

The web shop sales of Amazon accounted for a turnover of 75.6 billion dollars (72.8 billion euros) in the fourth quarter, 7 percent more than a year earlier.

AWS yielded 28.8 billion dollars (27.7 billion euros) in income, an increase of 19 percent. For example, Amazon benefited from the demand for services in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Amazon is planning to invest more than 100 billion dollars (96.3 billion euros) in the cloud and AI in 2025.

Over the whole of 2024, net profit rose to 59.2 billion dollars (57 billion euros), almost a doubling of the $ 30.4 billion (29.3 billion euros) in 2023. Sales for fully 2024 climbed by 11 percent to 638 billion Dollar (614 billion euros).

The Amazon share, however, went down in the Na fair on Wall Street. The turnover and profit forecast for the first quarter of 2025 turned out to be weaker than analysts had expected. For this quarter, Amazon counts on a turnover between 151 billion and $ 155.5 billion (145 billion and 149.7 billion euros). That would be 5 to 9 percent more than in the first three months of 2024.
