Judo: Teddy Riner and Clarisse Agbégnénou selected for the Worlds in Budapest in June

The selection committee of the French Judo Federation announced this Wednesday the first athletes selected for the European championships (April 23-27 in Podgorica, Montenegro) and the world championships (June 13-20 in Budapest, Hungary).

The lists will be completed at the end of the selective competition period. We can already note the presence of the legend Teddy Riner, five -time gold medalists at the Olympic Games and 11 times world champion. But no excitement at this stage, even if it is registered in + 100kg, the 35 -year -old judoka can still choose to meet there.

The male selection at the Worlds also includes Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg), Romain Valadier-Picard (-60 kg) and two of the heroes of the Paris Games in the person of Jean-Benjamin Gaba (-73 kg) and Maxime-Gaël Ngayap Hambou (-90 kg).

Triple Olympic champion and sexuple world champion, Clarisse Agbégnénou was also retained to participate in the Worlds in Budapest in the -63 kg category. She will be accompanied by Shirine Boukli (-48 kg), Amandine Buchard (-52 kg), Sarah-Léonie Cysique (-57 kg), Margaux Pinot (-70 kg) and Romane Dicko (-78 kg).

For the European championships, Shirine Boukli, Martha Fawaz, Manon Deketer, Melkia Auchecorne, Marie-Ève ​​Gahié, Audrey Tcheuméo and Léa Fontaine were selected for women while Luka Mkheidze, Enzo Jean, Walide Kyar, Daikii Bouba, Joan -Benjamin Gaba, Maxime Gobert, Alexis Mathieu and Maxime-Gaël Ngayap Hambou were selected among men.
