The assistant of artificial intelligence (AI) of Anthropic, Claude.AI, is mainly used in tasks related to computer science and mathematics, in order to improve and automate repetitive tasks and in paid jobs with middle and high wages.
These are some of the conclusions that Anthropic has reached in the first report of its economic index, a measurement system aimed at understanding where and how this technology is used at work, and what are its effects on the labor market and the economy.

The Claude.AI developer company has indicated that this index provides data and analysis “pioneers based on millions of anonymous conversations” recorded in its ‘chatbot’ and with it provides “the clearest image until the moment of how the AI is being incorporated to real world’s tasks in the modern economy. ”
In this sense, it has stressed that this index focuses on the current impact of AI, with use data on the real world and that, to elaborate it, it does not survey users about its use or try to forecast the future. Likewise, with him it offers investigators additional information so that they can develop and expand their findings.
Among the main conclusions of the first document that forms this anthropic index, it stressed that AI is mainly used in ‘computer and mathematics’ (in 37.2% of cases), ‘software’ -modification tasks -modification, purification of purification of code and network problem resolution and technical writing.
The second most important category was ‘arts, design, sports, entertainment and media’ (10.3%), which mainly reflected people who used Claude.AI for different types of writing and editing. The occupations included in ‘Agriculture, Fisheries and Silviculture’, on the other hand, were the least represented, with 0.1 percent of the consultations.

Improve, not automate
Anthropic has also stressed that this technology is used to improve activities (in 57% of cases), since it collaborates with human abilities, such as validation, learning or iteration of tasks. 43% of cases, on the other hand, are used to automate repetitive tasks and work autonomously.
Likewise, its analysis has revealed that very few occupations use AI in most tasks associated with their work: approximately 4% of workers used AI in at least 75% of tasks. On the contrary, “the most moderate use of AI is much more widespread,” according to the company, since approximately 36% of employees used it in at least 25% of cases.
On the other hand, Anthropic has warned that AI is used more frequently in tasks associated with jobs with middle and high wages, such as computer programmers and data scientists, but it is not so common in works with lower salaries. “This probably reflects both the limits of current AI capacities and practical barriers for the use of technology,” he added in the statement.

The company has finally recognized that the use of AI is expanding rapidly and the models are increasingly efficient. This, together with a labor market panorama that “can be very different in a relatively short period”, pushes them to repeat “many of the analysis” over time to help track the social and economic changes that “probably” They happen. Therefore, you will periodically publish the results and associated data sets as part of your economic index.
He also pointed out that he is aware that “the development of political responses to address the transformation that is coming into the labor market and its effects on employment and productivity will require a variety of perspectives”, so it has invited economists, experts in policies and other researchers to add their contributions on this index.
