“The literature becomes a voice and body, the witch claims space and self -determination in an enchanted sabbarian where bodies and words intertwine and agitated. The definitions are overcome, the unhinged superstructures. Illuminated by an eclipse, the metaphor comes to life and echoes echoes as a song of revolt “. Thus the artist MP5 presents his artwork, which will accompany the 2025 edition of the Strega Prize in his Italian and European narrative sections, poetry and, from this year, also non -fiction.
The artwork of MP5 is the tenth of the ‘Author’s’ witches series. Started in the year of the seventy edition, there has made use of the contribution of artists with a unique style such as Manuele Fior (2016), Franco Matticchio (2017), Riccardo Guasco (2018), Alessandro Baronciani (2019), Emiliano Ponzi (2020 in the time. ), Lorenzo Mattotti (2021), Olimpia Zagnoli (2022), Elisa Seitzinger (2023) and Andrea Tarella (2024).
The work of the Neapolitan artist residing in Rome who uses the pseudonym MP5 is known for the use of black and white in various media, from video installations to wall interventions, with a training in scenography and animation that enriches his research. His works reflect a critical and politically committed vision: in recent years he has closely linked his work to themes inherent in the bodies and to the genre. His creations were exhibited in international museums and galleries and has created public works in Europe, Asia and the United States. Among his collaborations: the Morgana project with Michela Murgia and Chiara Tagliaferri, the art director of the “Chime for Change” campaign by Gucci and the research project on the link between the visual and performative arts “image movement”, with the participation of the Choreographer and performer Alessandro Sciarroni. In “Corpus” (Rizzoli Lizard, 2023) he collected most of his production for the first time, selecting and reorganizing images to recompose the story of his artistic practice.
Tuesday 18 February the Goffredo and Maria Bellonci Foundation will announce the first books proposed by the Sunday friends for the 2025 edition of the Strega Prize.
