The process of building the first phase of the straight city (The Line) has begun. This is the ambitious project of Saudi Arabia to build a 170 km long city in the desert. Denis Hickey, representative of Neom project, revealed details about the first phase at the PIF private bloc forum in Riyadh last week, according to New Atlas.

The first phase of the straight city will be called Hidden Marina and stretching 2.5 km through the desert. This area will have a height of 500 m and consist of 3 individual modules with exterior glasses. The construction area of ​​Hidden Marina is up to 21 million m2. To compare, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa Tower with a construction area of ​​350,000 m2.

Along the marina, the project will have an initial population of about 200,000 people and will include 80,000 housing units, 9,000 hotel rooms, commercial and retail space along with fire stations, schools, departments. Murder and security services, and many other necessary infrastructure to maintain the operation of a modern city. In particular, AI control monitoring device will track the use of energy and residence. Residents in the city can access every daily amenities within 5 minutes of walking, while high -speed rail will transport passengers around the superstar.

Currently, more than 140,000 workers are participating in the construction of the project, with 140 billion USD of investing in infrastructure to support the young city. It is expected that Hidden Marina will be completed by 2030, allowing the top floor of the straight city to contain a stadium to organize the 2034 World Cup that Saudi Arabia has hosted.

Authorities say the project uses about 20% of the steel available in the world and construction robots. In addition to the straight city, Saudi Arab is also speeding up the construction of the highest skyscraper in the world, JEC tower and a giant cubic building Mukaab.
