USA suspend requests for immigration from biden programs

In an internal document from the Department of Internal Security (DHS), released on Wednesday (19) by the CBS television network, the US government also ordered the suspension of pending requests from those seeking to register and obtain permission to travel to the US within the modalities known as “humanitarian parole”.

The decision affects the beneficiaries of the CHNV (for citizens of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela) programs, United for Ukraine (for Ukrainian citizens) and the family reunification process for Cubans, Ecuadorians and Colombians.

More than 800,000 people entered the US with these immigration benefits, which gave a temporary two -year permission to live and work in the country.

The idea of ​​these programs, as staff of the Biden government explained at the time they were created, was to give these migrants legal entry in the US so that they could request other immigration benefits or programs, such as temporary protection status (TPS) asylum.

According to CBS, the government justified the measure citing concerns with “national fraud or security” in the government’s current system to grant immigration benefits.
