VRT NWS is looking for two editor -in -chiefs and rearranges TOP from the news editorial team

At the VRT they are looking for two new editors for the news service. Together with existing editor -in -chief Steven Samyn, they must control the content of VRT NWS. The intention is that the three turns become ‘editor -in -chief of the week’, and thus manage the general editors. Each with its own domain: Research & Check (fact checking, red.)inland and abroad.

In addition, two existing editor -in -chiefs, Elke Jacobs and Dimitri Verbrugge, move to new seats. Jacobs becomes editor -in -chief, and examines the question of which platform news is hit by the citizen. Verbrugge, again, becomes editor -in -chief Talent and from now on deals with human resources. The new structure has five editor -in -chiefs, one more than there were.

Complex consultation structure

The re -depth follows after an internal evaluation. This showed, among other things, that the consultation structure was too complex, the editor -in -chief worked too fragmented, that they were passing themselves past and that it was a lack of substantive debate. With the new structure, a more clear focus must be in the organization. She follows earlier interventions that have already been taken, such as the appointment of Nieuwe Cheffen, a rescheduling of the producers, and the clearing of what everyone’s role and competence is in the organization.

Above the editor -in -chief is director of information Griet Decraen (ad interim). She was previously editor -in -chief Radio, but pushed on when her predecessor Liesbet Vrieleman suddenly became director of content at the end of last year, responsible for the programs that VRT makes. That was because Ricus Jansegers, the previous director of content, had to leave the broadcaster after a high -rise conflict with Netmanager VRT1 and VRT Canvas Lotte Vermeir.
