The “low cost” airlines already move 4 out of ten passengers inside Argentina

The total figure, of 4.5 million passengers, corresponds to a new form of measurement that the ANAC implemented from the assumption of its current headline, María Julia Cordero. It consists of computing differently from the passengers of cabotage flights (it measures them by sections, so that A round trip between Buenos Aires and Córdoba ends up computing as two different passengers) and internationals (in this case a single passenger is measured by destination).

That same methodology was transferred backwards in statistics, so the figures of 4.5 million passengers in January are higher than those of December 2024 (4.4 million) and at the same time exceed January to January with the most passengers, which had been in 2019 (4,229,076).

The state airline privileged during this summer the destinations outside, with a strong offer of flights to Brazil and other beach destinations, in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, among others, both from Aeroparque and from Interior airports and Córdoba and Rosario.

The countercara was a smaller number of passengers transported within Argentina, with 892,745 against 974,808 a year ago (82,063 passengers less)

In this way, the participation in the cabotage is now distributed between Airlines (59%), Flybondi (23%) and Jetsmart (17%).

Regarding the total number of passengers transported (“net” passengers, measured with the previous methodology), according to the ANAC during January, 1,523,000 were 1,523,000 on cabotage flights and 1,526,000 on international flights.
