The PP urges the Government to promote a new Cultural Heritage Law to “modernize and refuse” legislation

The Popular Group has registered in the Congress of Deputies a non -law proposal that urges the Government to promote a new Cultural Heritage Law to “modernize and recade” the current legislation on equity protection, for their debate in The Culture Commission.

In the text, to which Europa Press has had access, popular formation considers that the current legislation-with a validity of 40 years since its approval-does not address current challenges such as new protection figures, the digitalization of heritage and new forms of promotion and dissemination of heritage.

Political formation indicates that it is necessary to protect itself before the plunder and the destruction of heritage; include new types of heritage such as industrial, cinematographic and audiovisual or the incorporation of the category of cultural landscapes; greater clarity in management and competences; greater citizen involvement; New mechanisms that favor public-private collaboration for the recovery of in danger, among other issues.

The PP recalls that the proposal of law that promoted for the protection of historical heritage against vandalism is pending processing. An initiative that arose in response to a series of attacks on works of art and cultural goods.

“The proposal reflects a growing concern about the need to update and strengthen legislation to protect historical heritage against new forms of vandalism and protests,” explains the popular parliamentary group.

Therefore, the NLP urges the Executive to carry out a new rule to “modernize and re -build” current legislation in heritage, in collaboration with the autonomous communities, municipalities and other public and private institutions of the sector.
