Energy supplier Mega sold to Swiss sector

Mega still denied rumors about a possible sale in August, although the company then announced that it was always interested in new investors to continue its growth. Now it appears that the two Dutch people Pieter Schoen and Theo de Rooij have sold their majority stake in Mega Group International. “Our return on the investment is very nice,” says Schoen, who estimates that the acquisition sum is hundreds of millions of euros. Since the two got into Mega in 2018, the company made eight takeovers.

Thomas Coune and Michael Corhay, who founded Mega twelve years ago, would continue to lead the company after the takeover. They too would have sold part of them to shares with Group. Thanks to the acquisition, the Swiss energy company, based in seventeen countries, will have an extensive customer portfolio. With Group has more than 1,000 employees.

Mega has also been active as a small player in the Netherlands for two years and had more than 500,000 customers. The company is a reseller of energy and does not have its own electricity production.

Testoopkoop reported in August that mega cannot just ignore current contracts. “Even if the supplier would fully merge with another player, the new supplier must in principle take over the existing contracts until they end,” it sounded.
