All flights to popular tourist destination canceled on Friday

Due to a strike from the air traffic control, no flights will land or take off at Athens airport this Friday. Anyone who has planned a trip to the Greek capital on that day will therefore take a cancellation into account.

All commercial flights to and from Eleftherios Venizelos airport in Athens are canceled for 24 hours. The air traffic controllers will join a national general strike on Friday, with which the Greek trade unions want to remind the second birthday of the train disaster at Larissa. The train crash, which killed 57 people, is said to have revealed shortcomings in the safety infrastructure of the Greek traces.

Athens airport, which usually processes more than 400 flights a day, is the largest and busiest airport in Greece. Other public transport services such as train traffic will also be confronted with major disruptions due to the general strike.
