‘Many Japanese businesses want to increase investment in Vietnam’

The Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam ITO Naoki said many Japanese businesses expect the development and desire to increase investment and trade with Vietnam.

On the afternoon of 1/3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the seminar with Japanese businesses and organizations, such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), JBIC Bank, Moeco, Marubeni, Tokyo Gas, Shimizu, Sumitomo, Hitachi, Nippon Koei, Toyota, Aeon.

The Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam ITO Naoki said Japanese businesses expect the development of the Vietnamese economy in the coming time, especially with the era of reaching out, the revolution of streamlining the organizational structure.

“The results from simple administrative procedures, accelerating decisions and improving the investment environment of the Vietnamese government will help increase Japanese investment,” he said, adding that many Japanese businesses want to increase investment and trade with Vietnam.

According to a survey by the Japan Trade Promotion Organization (JETRO), more than 60% of enterprises in Vietnam have been profitable in 2024, the highest for the past 5 years. Enterprises are expected to grow strongly, of which 56% have plans to expand operations in the next 1-2 years.

“This ratio at the top in ASEAN shows that Vietnam is one of the countries with the strongest development motivation,” said Ozasa Haruhiko, Chief Representative of Jetro Hanoi.

Currently Japan is the third largest investor, Vietnam’s fourth largest trading and tourism partner. They lent Vietnam more than 20 billion USD, the aid does not refund nearly 750 million USD and supports technical cooperation of about US $ 1.34 billion. Investors of this country have more than 5,500 FDI projects in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of 78.3 billion USD.

This year, the Government aims to grow GDP from 8% or more, creating momentum for two -digit growth in the coming years. Vietnam determines fast but sustainable development, based on science and technology, digital conversion, ensuring fairness and social security and environment.

Along with that, Vietnam also promotes three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure and human resources, streamlining the apparatus, reforming administrative procedures, eliminating the mechanism of application – giving, reducing time, costs, troubles, harassment for people and businesses. The operator is expected to reduce the procedures and business costs by 30%.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Japanese businesses exploit the geographical area of ​​economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam advocates cooperation, attracting selective foreign investment, towards quality, efficiency, high technology and environmental protection. He suggested that Japanese enterprises have increased investment in sectors and fields with strengths and Vietnam encouraged, such as green economy – number – circulation, knowledge economy, semiconductor, new energy (such as hydrogen), renewable energy, financial center, green finance, biotechnology, health, high -tech agriculture …

The Prime Minister also suggested that the Government and Japanese enterprises continue to pay attention and quickly deploy key cooperation projects, especially in the field of high technology, symbolic in the two countries’ relations, such as satellite launch cooperation projects in orbit in 2025.

“The Vietnamese government is committed to the FDI sector as an important part of the Vietnamese economy, ensuring the legitimate and legitimate rights of investors, businesses and political and social stability,” he said, calling for Japanese businesses to be assured of operations, expanding business investment and considering Vietnam as an important link, building supply chain and production chain.

“The spirit is to work together, enjoy, win, develop, share joy, happiness, pride,” he said.

With the new generation ODA, the Prime Minister proposed the Japanese side to expand, increase the scale, simplify procedures, create favorable conditions to disburse faster. At the same time, the Prime Minister expected Japanese businesses to make faster decisions and coordinate with the Vietnamese side to harmonize the procedures.

Along with that, he proposed that the Japanese side supports Vietnam to access investment, green and sustainable investment sources such as “Asian emission community” (Azec) and investment sources for science and technology, innovative innovation of the Japanese government. The two sides continue to increase cooperation to consolidate supply chains, develop auxiliary industry, build highly skilled labor force.

At the seminar, businesses and organizations of Japan proposed cooperation in areas such as energy, Hanoi urban railway line No. 2 South Thang Long-Tran Hung Dao, North-South highway Ben Luc-Long Thanh, traffic in the Mekong Delta, Development of Vietnam-Japan University, new generation ODA projects …

Last year, bilateral trade turnover reached US $ 46.2 billion, of which Vietnam’s import from Japan was 21.6 billion USD. More than 600,000 Vietnamese living and working in the country of the rising sun, up 8 times in the past 10 years. Particularly 2024, more than 70,000 Vietnamese workers came to Japan.
