Elon Musk under fire: nationwide protest wave against Tesla

Demonstrators blocked the traffic and swiveled banners with inscriptions such as “burns a Tesla: saves democracy” or “no dictators in the USA”. The organizers also called on selling Tesla shares.

The protests were directed against Musk’s procedure, which on behalf of US President Donald Trump as head of a new department for government efficiency (Doge) makes extensive cuts in federal service.

Since Trump’s taking office on January 20, at least 100,000 of the 2.3 million federal employees have accepted dismissals in the United States or have been released.

Nine arrests in New York

In a protest hundred demonstrators in front of a Tesla car dealership in New York, nine people were arrested, the police said on Saturday. In other cities such as Jacksonville in Florida and Tucson in Arizona, the electric car maker showed out showrooms.

In the past few weeks there have been protests against Musk and Boykotte calls against Tesla. The image damage for the e-car manufacturer is large. In January, sales in Europe broke down drastically.
