The share of postal company Bpost loses a fifth of its value on Friday morning at the Brussels stock exchange, after the announcement of the annual results. Around 9.10 am the share with a loss of 20.29 percent, at 1.65 euros.
Bpost had announced that he would not pay a dividend for 2024, due to a negative net result due to a value reduction of around 300 million euros on his American daughter Radial.

Last year Bpost also pruned in the dividend. That was then reduced from 0.4 euros gross for 2022 to 0.13 euros gross for 2023. It then ensured that the state received 27.5 million euros less revenue than before 2022.
The Belgian State owns (directly and via the federal participation and investment company) 102,075,649 shares, or 51.04 percent. As a result, the dividend for 2023 yielded the state 13.27 million euros, where it was still 40.83 million euros before 2022.
Bpost expects challenges in 2025
Bpost performed in line with expectations in 2024. The adjusted business profit or EBIT (profit for taxes and interest) amounted to 224.9 million euros last year.
The adjusted net profit of the group for the entire year 2024 amounted to 122.7 million euros, but the reported net result of the group amounted to -209.2 million euros, as a result of the depreciation of 299.4 million euros on Radial. “Despite challenging market conditions and various setbacks, our results for the fourth quarter and the full year are in line with our financial expectations,” says CEO Chris Peeters.
The CEO expects challenges before 2025. “We have already come across some: with ‘Last Mile’ we were confronted with several days of strike in an already complex social climate in Belgium. At Radial North America we have to deal with customers who leave and we still have to bend the trend of customer loss. ” Bpost expects a modified EBIT of 150 to 180 million euros for this year.
The group also announced on Friday morning that Thomas Schmitt (60) will be the new CEO from Radial Noord-America from 17 March. In addition, from 1 May Chris Peeters will also take on the role of CEO Last Mile. Jos Donvil, so far CEO of Bene Last Mile, will focus on subsidiaries Dyna, Speos and AMP in the last year before his retirement, as well as the project division within Bene Last Mile, including the new contracts for press distribution.
