Now Trump appreciates a message from Zelensky and says that Ukraine is ready to negotiate

During a speech before Congress, the president of the United States read a letter aloud who said he received from the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, which was similar to a message posted in X that same day.

Trump could soon see Zelenski back in Washington, as a French government spokesman said, although then the Eliseo denied that “at this stage” a Macron trip to the White House with the Ukrainian leader and prime minister and his British couple, Keir Starmer, is being considered.

Although Donald Trump adopted a more conciliatory tone, he has not given signs that he will end the military aid to Ukraine, announced on Monday.

Although Trump insisted that the United States had spent too much on Ukraine and that Europe had not contributed enough, the presidente seemed to soften the tension which arose after the diplomatic disaster on Friday in the Oval Hall, where Trump and the Ukrainian leader crossed hard before the cameras and the Republican called him “irresponsible” and “ungrateful.”

After this episode, the American had resolved on Monday to suspend military aid to Ukraine, but in Tuesday’s speech seemed to change the tone and spoke of his will to restore the relationship with the country.

Trump said he appreciated a message from Zelenski, in which he said his country was “ready to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring a lasting peace.” And that he was ready to sign an agreement for the United States to have access to Ukraine income for critical minerals and rare earths. Trump also said he had “serious” conversations with Russia and that they had pointed out that they are also “ready for peace.”

“It’s time to stop this madness,” he said. “It’s time to stop the killing. It’s time to end the meaningless war. If you want to end wars, you have to talk to both sides.”
