The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has warned this Friday with the imposition of “large -scale” sanctions against Russia to force direct negotiations with Ukraine that lead to a high fire and a definitive peace.
“According to the fact that Russia is completely crushing Ukraine on the battlefield, I am thoroughly considering the imposition of bank sanctions, sanctions and tariffs against Russia until the fire is declared a high and a final peace agreement,” he has made known on his truthsocial platform.
“To Russia and Ukraine: now sit at the negotiating table before it is too late,” concludes the president.
This Friday’s comment is one of the most aggressive statements Trump has formulated against Moscow since his return to power, and unchecked from a progressive approach line, as demonstrated by the recent diplomatic encounter held by high -level delegations of Russia and the United States in Riad (Saudi Arabia).
The statement also takes place a week after the public anger that Trump maintained with the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, during a visit of the latter to the White House.
The encounter, a symptom of distancing between the two leaders, triggered during the days a European response of immediate support towards the Ukrainian president and the rethinking of the general European security strategy, among the fears that the approaches between Washington and Moscow threaten to leave Kiev and Brussels in the background.
“Russia has all the letters”
In comments later to the American media, Trump has indicated that, despite the forcefulness of his message, “it is more difficult to negotiate with Ukraine than with Russia” and repeated his conviction that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, wants to seek a peace in Ukraine because both sides are suffering huge victims in the war front.
“It is a war that would never have happened if I had been president,” Trump added once again, while he has pointed out that the intention of his message was to notify Russia that he has to stop “crushing” Ukraine because “Moscow has all the letters” in this conflict.
“This could lead to World War III if we do not reach an agreement,” Trump has settled, after declare, also once again, his distrust in the intentions of President Zelenski. “I still have sure to reach an agreement,” he added.
