Scientists develop a quantum computer using light to process data, pave the way for quantum computers that can operate in network environments at room temperature, Live Science On 7/3 reported. The new system called Aurora is the first phroton quantum computer in the world that can operate in a large scale, using several modules connected to each other via optical cable. The system provides solutions to some of the largest problems of quantum compartments including large -scale operation, errors and corrections, according to the representative of Xanadu Company.

The above breakthrough can lead to the introduction of the feasible quantum data center with higher errors and lower errors we can achieve today, according to research published in Nature magazine. “The two biggest challenges for this industry are improving the performance of quantum computers (bugging and correcting errors) and increasing the scale (network),” Christian Weedbrook, founder and CEO of CEO Xanadu, Canadian company behind the new system, said.

Traditional quobit or superconducting quobit is the construction block of quantum computers and plays a key role for quick processing of massive data. But those quobites use microwave signals to process data, creating heat that can destroy hardware. By using the light -based quabliton instead of microwave or superconducting quobit, Weedbrook and colleagues create a system using network chip. This makes Aurora easy to connect by optical fiber that is the foundation of the global network. Aurora developers said that through the division of quantum computers into smaller parts, they could enhance the correction by connecting the units.

“The basic problem of bugs and finding ways to fix quantum status faster than the error rate occurs is still a big challenge to perform any useful calculation,” said Darran Milne, a doctor who hypothesized quantum information and CEO of VIVIDQ Technology Company, who did not participate in research, said. “Instead of trying to calculate with a large quantum computer, they divide it into a smaller small system, easier to fix each part.”

The texture of Aurora is based on technology used in quantum computer hardware and quantum computers a Borealis system. This system uses 35 phroton chips connected through 13 km of fiber optic cable. The potential for application of Aurora photon quantum computer includes cell simulation and calculating the potential results of pharmaceutical tests, helping to eliminate long -term testing needs. The phroton quantum computer can open up an era of high safety encryption communication called quantum encryption. Next, the research team in Xanadu intends to focus on eliminating optical fiber signals that are weakened by optical fiber failure.
