A cargo ship encountered with a tanker near the coast of England transported a high toxic substance

In the North Sea, near the coast of East Yorkshire, there was a clash of the American tanker Stena Immaculate and the Solong container locomotive. After a collision, fires arose on both ships.

Reuters writes that according to the British magazine Lloyd’s List, dedicated to sea transportation, there were 15 containers with sodium cyanide on board the Solong containers.

The American Logistic company Crowley, which was responsible for the operation of the Stena Immaculate tanker, said that he was transporting aviation fuel.

Sky News reports that it is currently known: 37 crew members were on board the two ships, of which 32 were taken ashore.

Sodium cyanide is a high toxic substance like all cyanides, and is capable of absorbing through the skin. If it enters the body, it inhibits tissue breathing enzymes, and tissues lose the ability to absorb oxygen from the blood. The substance is widely used in industry.
