Israel | Fast and New: The new national computer control center of Mekorot

Mekorot – The National Water Company – recently launched an advanced national control room, which is a leap in the ability to manage the State of Israel’s water system. The new room for the first time coordinated all areas of control and command – water, communication, cyber and security – under one casing, and serves as the “central brain” of national water infrastructure.

So far, the control rooms of sources have been working on a division into geographical districts, each who has managed the operating system independently. Now, with the transition to a unified national control center, overall control and continuous control is possible in all water infrastructure – from water sources, through pumping and treatment facilities to the transmission and supply lines.

In a sharpest source company that the transition to concentrated control allows for a quick, more coordinated and effective response in extreme situations – such as unusual nature events, operating faults, attempts at cyber attacks or security threats. The new work configuration enables early detection, real -time information -based decision -making, and immediate backup and intervention – with close cooperation between all the professional factors, which are physically found in the same functional complex.

The new building includes dedicated control cells, manned 24/7, which operate in close collaboration, using advanced monitoring systems, data collection and analysis of trends – which allow sources to precede a reaction to any threat and ensure continuous, safe and reliable water supply in an emergency.

Sources mention that the past year stretches the boundaries of the company’s employees exceptionally, with the desire to have a regular water supply to all citizens of the state, in front of dealing with combat challenges and penetration attempts to operate water. The company explains that the new control center is built in the highest standards of cyber protection and extreme resistance, and is a major pillar of the State of Israel’s national infrastructure resilience.
