Salt water has long been recognized for the ability to clean the skin gently. Fine seed salts can act as a mechanical exfoliating product, making the skin smooth and brighter. However, long -term salt on the skin can cause dehydration or salt crystals with uneven size to damage the skin surface during friction.

You should only occasionally use salt water to wash your face, do not see this as a method of cleaning oil, reducing oily and acne. Abuse can irritate, damage the skin’s barrier, thereby worsen some conditions such as acne, eczema or hyperpigmentation and scars.

You should mix salt water to achieve a concentration of 0.9% – the concentration similar to the physiology of the body. Should gently wipe the face with a cotton pad soaked in salt water solution or spray salt water on the face and gently absorb the excess salt water.

How to mix salt water solution: Boil 2 cups (500 ml) tap water and a teaspoon (5 ml) of salt. Cover the lid to let the mixture cool. After reaching room temperature, close the container, store at room temperature. Let the salt water mixture cool before use, as hot water can cause burns or dry skin and further irritation.

You can try to wash your face with salt water 1-2 times a week to check the skin reaction. Avoid rubbing when applying salt to the face. Salt is corrosive and can damage the skin when applied at high concentrations for too long. Salt should only be used to exfoliate the body in a short time, avoiding the face.

Choose sea salt instead of salt because sea salt contains trace minerals and less processed. Homemade saline may not bring similar benefits. Salt water from the ocean not only contains salt but also natural minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium. These minerals can bring many benefits to the skin and are difficult to homemade at home.

Use your skin moisturizer after washing your face with salt water to prevent dry skin. Stop using salt water on the face if you notice any signs such as redness, peeling, feeling of skin tight, itching, scales, peeling, changing skin color like dark or gray patches.

With oily, acne -prone skin, you should go to a dermatologist to be evaluated and treated with drugs as well as suitable products.
