Scopely “Capture” Pokémon Go: Buy the division of Niantic games for $ 3.5 billion

Scopely has announced the acquisition of Niantic’s video game business, which includes titles such as Pokémon Go and Pikmin Bloom and development teams, in an agreement valued at 3.5 billion dollars (about 3,215 million euros).

The Niantic video game business has 30 million monthly active players and last year registered more than one billion dollars in revenue. His entire catalog gathered more than 500 million players in 2024.

These figures support the acquisition that Scopety has just announced, Responsible for titles like Monopoly Go! and Marvel Strike Force, among others. They will join Niantic games, which include Pokémon Go, Monster Hunter Now and Pikmin Bloom, Campfire and Wayfarer services, and development teams.

As reported in a press release, the agreement has been valued at 3.5 billion dollars, and leaves out the Prime and Peridot games. Once the acquisition is closed, Niantic will become Niantic Spatial, an independent entity that will develop geospatial artificial intelligence.

The mobile video game firm was acquired two years ago by Savvy Games, which is part of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
