The container system is super speed in a vacuum pipe

Hyperloop Traffic Technology Company (HTT) is seeking to completely redesign the method of freight in Brazil with the ambitious Hyperport project. The purpose of this project is to build a high -speed railway to transport container of 12.2 m in a vacuum pipe partially at the same speed as the airway, New Atlas On March 14 reported.

Preliminary research results show that the project is feasible in many ways. The study was conducted by Labtrans at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, cooperating with the Brazilian port company EGA Group with the goal of setting the route from Santos port via Su Paulo and further, going through many big cities and other waterways.

Santos port processes more than 5 million TEU (a TEU equivalent to a standard 6 mx long and 2.4 m long container) in 2024, ranked 40th in the world, but the largest and most modern container port in Latin America. From 3,000 – 15,000 trucks in and out of the port every day and the 97 km long driving journey to Su Paulo lasts about two hours, depending on the traffic conditions.

The Hyperloop ship compartment is designed to carry a 12 m long container (equivalent to two TEUs) at a speed of about 595 km/h in and out of the port, helping the journey for a few hours or even many days to shorten it to 20-30 minutes, matching the speed of transporting goods by plane. Based on the prediction of the demand, daily operation will record 4,810 train compartments moving between Su Paulo and Santos scene, along with 4,156 train compartments between Su Paulo and Campinas city more inland. That means cutting 4,000 trucks on the road every day.

Currently, HTT focuses on the 169 km long route from Santos to Campinas Route, which can bring the most profits. While studies have been completed, the construction of Hyperport requires a huge investment. The system has construction costs and facilities about $ 9.6 billion and operating costs of US $ 1.6 billion during the existence, including operating, labor, maintenance and energy costs in the Campinas – Santos route. The total revenue from this route is expected to reach 17.1 billion USD.

According to HTT, the project will help reduce estimated 906 tons of CO2 emissions daily in 2060, providing environmentally friendly options to transport goods. Other indirect benefits include reducing accidents, reducing environmental pollution, less wear and tears due to reduced trucks. The next step of the project is to complete the study of technical, economic and environmental feasibility. Once completed, the Government’s capital and results will determine the fate of this advanced cargo network.
