Building wind power has its limits Shop

From the reader. The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation is very unambiguous on nature hazards caused by wind power and other industrial projects and construction – the disadvantages must be minimized and the implemented projects are not fully implemented (KL 18.3.).

15 regional district organizations of the Association and 149 volunteers throughout Finland are active nature lobbyists.

They always take a stand on, among other things, the environmental impact assessment and planning processes of energy projects. With its nationwide network, the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation is quite comprehensive.

Growth cannot be unlimited

Of course, the Association for Nature Conservation has been in favor of renewable energy, such as wind power. long -term. In particular, it was needed in the early stages of the energy breakthrough in order to make the renewal of electricity production briskly and profitable.

Renewable energy is still an important part of the solution of the climate crisis. However, the limits of ecological sustainability must be identified in its implementation of its additional construction. Growth cannot be unlimited.

Energy projects and the electrical lines they require must be implemented and placed in such a way that they do not have the power of nature and other adverse environmental impacts. Unfortunately, this is not always the case.

The disadvantages should be minimized and the implemented projects are completely left out.

As the growth in the industry accelerates, project companies, consultants, landowners and municipalities have also promoted projects, endangering valuable nature and landscapes.

According to the Association for Nature Conservation, all industrial activities should be located close to the areas already built, and there is no chips in nature where it remains.

In terms of noise effects, case -by -case studies are more reasonable than fixed meters. Noise is measured in decibels not in meters, its amount depends substantially on the terrain and other local conditions.

Wise savings and streamlining

Sufficiently clear frames and careful surveys are essential for the selection of wind power locations. The Nature Conservation Union has called for better legislation, interaction evaluation, thoughtful overall planning and maintaining a binding guidance effect in the provincial plans.

We have been hopping the Ministry of the Environment to publish studies in the statement last year about the consideration of land eagles and seawater in wind power projects.

Our member association is actively stating, and the additional information provided thus often also lead to changes in the plans. Failed projects that are unlawful to nature have ultimately been discussed in the courts.

This has been sought for construction to reduce plans for nature -sensitive sites at an early stage.

It would be wise to save resource savings and streamline. The Nature Conservation Union promotes all the actions that are required to stop the climate and nature crisis.
