Food Security Office Report: 125 thousand families regularly do not

The food security council published its first report, according to which in 2023 250 thousand Israeli families did not have regular access to food, of which 125 thousand families were regularly norive.

The main part of the families are families with one parent, large families, recipients of benefits for the cost of living, people who have completed less than 8 schools of school education.

At the moment, only 26 thousand families are supporting the National Food Safety initiative. Moreover, the program provides not only funds for food, but also economic consultation and escort of nutritionists.

The report transferred to the Minister of Social Support to Yaakov Margi contains recommendations for a significant increase in the budget and systemic implementation of national food security programs.

It is also recommended to provide municipal organs and educational structures tools for identifying families that do not have normal access to food.

Another recommendation is the formation of a “healthy diet”. It is also recommended to block the possibility of purchasing “harmful foods” for grocery coupons – sweet drinks, snacks, sweets.
