The technology of making 3D and deep drilling has helped Chinese geologists discover an additional gold mine up to 1,000 tons in Liaoning.

Just a few months after announcing the discovery of gold mine worth 83 billion USD in Hunan province, geologists continue to find another huge gold mine in Liaoning province northeast of China. If the estimates accurately, this may be one of the largest gold mines ever discovered in the world, strengthening China’s position in the field of gold production, according to Economic Times.
According to the South China Morning Post, Dai Dong gold mine is found on an area stretching over 3,000 m from East to West and more than 2,500 m from North to South in Liaoning Province. The initial estimate indicated that the mine could accommodate 1,000 tons of gold, worth billions of dollars. With the price of gold on the rise, this finding can significantly strengthen the mining industry in China and reshape the global gold market.
According to research published in the magazine China Mining Magazinethe latest detection is the result of the application of advanced 3D geological model technology of China. Scientists use high -end photography techniques and deep drilling equipment to map the underground gold circuits with special accuracy. It is also this technology that plays an essential role in Hunan in November 2024, when the geologists drilled under the ancient mine in Binh Giang district, found more than 40 gold -containing stone circuits. In that area, they drilled 2,000 m deep and found the gold density of up to 138 g per ton of ore.
However, geology, including the World Gold Council, called for independence verification and drilled more to confirm these estimates. According to them, it may take many years to bring the mines into production.
Discovering two continuous gold mines attracted a lot of attention to China’s gold exploration technology. “There are many progresses in the search, exploration and research activities in China. In the new exploration in 2024, the general exploration method and details are applied in combination. Currently, all drilling holes find ore,” the researchers said. China is the world’s leading gold producer, surpassing many countries like South Africa, Australia and Russia in annual production.
