Jannik Sinner is the first finalist of the “Erste Bank Open”, an ATP 500 tournament with a total prize pool of 2,736,875 euros, underway on the hard courts of Vienna.

The 24-year-old champion from South Tyrol, number 2 in the world ranking and first favorite in the draw, prevailed over the Australian in the semi-final Alex De Minaur, number 7 in the ATP rankings and three in the seeding, with a score of 6-3 6-4.

In the second semi-final, the other Italian Lorenzo Musetti, n.8 in the world and 4 in the tournament, and the German Alexander Zverev, n.3 ATP and 2 in the draw will compete.

Sinner, “it will be a difficult match in the final”

“I entered the court to play and serve well: the first set was very physical, I’m happy to have won in two games”, Sinner’s first words after defeating De Minaur in the first semi-final of the ATP 500 in Vienna. “He knows what to do and how to put pressure on me – continues the world number 2 – When you don’t serve very well you have to play every ball and point, I made many small changes but I’m satisfied with how I managed the match and with being in the final”. A final that Sinner will play against Musetti or Zverev: “This week I’ve also spent a bit on the expectations I have and those of the people, I try to play as best I can. I arrived quite late, I tried to manage every day as best as I could and tomorrow will be a very difficult match. I’m happy, let’s hope for a good final”, concludes the South Tyrolean champion.
