Norwegian handball player, two-time Olympic champion Camilla Herrem (39), recently returned to the field after being diagnosed with breast cancer in June of this year. Herrem underwent chemotherapy, which left her with no hair, and at her Solo performance in Skien, a commentator in the hall “joked” about her appearance. Everyone condemned the sick comment, and the commentator was fired.
Herrem returned to the handball courts last month, and last week Hola visited Skein where they met against Gjerpena. During that match, the commentator Tom Gulliksen made an inappropriate comment that horrified all the viewers.
– The hair doesn’t even have to be dried with a hair dryer – said the commentator.
The comment caused outrage in Norway, and both the Gjerpen club and the commentator apologized. However, Gulliksen was fired after that comment.
– We thank Tom Gulliksen for his cooperation. He contributed as a volunteer to the club for a year and a half and was an important resource for Gjerpen during a demanding period – said Gjerpen manager Christen Knudsen.
It was a very unfortunate comment. Navečer we conveyed it to Gjerpen, and they took it into account and sent an apology. We’re done with that. They handled it very well – said coach Sole and Camilla’s husband, Steffen Stegavik.
