USA prepares to bomb military installations within Venezuela in an escalation against the Government of Nicolás Maduro as reported this Friday by the Miami Herald and The Wall Street Journal based on sources close to the Donald Trump Administration.
The attacks from the air could occur “in a matter of days or even hours,” said the Miami newspaper, while the New York media clarified that “the president has not made a final decision on ordering ground bombings.”
The offensive seeks to pressure Maduro to leave power, according to officials cited by the media, who also claim that the attack is to dismantle the Los Soles Cartel and Venezuela’s drug trafficking networks.
“Potential targets under consideration include military-controlled ports and airports that are allegedly used to traffic drugs, including naval facilities and airfields, according to one of the officials,” the Wall Street Journal reported.
Meanwhile, the Miami Herald cited a source who said that Maduro’s time “is running out,” because now “there is more than one general willing to capture and hand him over,” although officials refused to clarify whether the Venezuelan ruler would be one of the targets of the bombings.
Trump reiterated, last Tuesday, that he will stop the entry of drugs “by land,” after almost two months of bombings of fifteen boats in the Pacific and the Caribbean which have left 61 people dead and three survivors since last September 1.

“We are finally fighting a war against the cartels. We are fighting a war like you have never seen before, and we are going to win that battle. We are already winning it at sea,” the Republican president declared in a speech to US troops in Japan.
The information about the bombings on land transcends the same day that the UN accused the US government of “violating international law” with its attacks against vessels at sea, as it indicated that the people on board were victims of “extrajudicial executions.”
“These attacks, and their growing human cost, are unacceptable. The United States must put an end to them,” demanded the UN high commissioner for human rights, Volker Türk.
