At the beginning of the year, the Airports Authority (Rashat) published two tenders for the expansion of Terminal 3 at the airport. now, The Oron Holdings and Investments Group, through its subsidiary Oron Infrastructure and Construction, was awarded a tender by the Airports Authority to carry out expansion and upgrade works of the ground structure and the central food complex in Terminal 3 in Israel, with an estimated amount of NIS 310 million.
According to Rashat, the projects are expected to upgrade the operational capabilities of Netavg, shorten waiting times and support the expected growth in passenger traffic in the coming years. The upgrade comes as part of the preparations for the doubling of the number of passengers expected by 2030, and as part of this, they are also looking for the place to build a complementary airport for Nabvi – which has not yet been decided.
The project includes a significant expansion of Terminal 3, in which about 7,000 new square meters will be added over four floors, in order to increase the service and commercial areas, expand the central catering complex and establish new operational areas. In addition, a new building, the “Tel Aviv Gate” with an area of about 2,000 square meters, will be built, which will serve as a designated entrance for passengers arriving by bus, and will allow shortening and speeding up the inspection and transit processes to the baggage collection area, to improve the passenger experience and increase the activity capacity in the airport.
The duration of the works is expected to be about 30 months from the date of receiving the order to start the works, and they will be carried out within an active complex and in full coordination with the Airports Authority, In order to maintain full operational continuity during construction.
