The star of “Orange is the New Black” Taryn Manning provided a particularly provocative performance this week when she uploaded a video to Instagram in which she dances in front of the camera in her home and bares her chest. Fans were quick to react with concern and wonder if the 47-year-old actress is okay.
In the video, Manning is seen dancing barefoot, with her shirt completely open and flapping in the wind and her breasts sticking out. At one point she took off her shirt and was completely naked. Next to the video she wrote: “We have no control over the outcome. Your birthday suit is yours.” After that, the actress gave a reference from the Bible and said: “Remember: we only became aware of ourselves after Eve messed up. Return to the roots, be free again.”
Manning’s freedom did not go over well with some followers. One of the prominent reactions that repeated itself is: “Is this the new Britney Spears?”, as Manning played alongside Spears in the movie “Crossroads” in 2002.
In the context of Britney, in 2021 Manning told the podcast “This Is Paris” that she had not spoken to Spears for a decade, but remembers that the pop star was not allowed to connect with others on the set. In the past, she also came to Britney’s defense in a post she shared in 2020 when Britney was at the height of the custody battle.
It is unclear what led Manning to post the video, and she has previously raised concerns about her condition. In 2023 it was reported that she was spotted in Palm Springs wearing only her underwear and holding a dog. Earlier this year, the Daily Mail published a photo of her looking disheveled, sitting on the roof of a car with a pro-Trump sticker on it.
