From Emilie Gardberg, director of the new Agency for Arts and Culture

Emilie Gardberg has been elected as the director of the Agency for Arts and Culture, which will start operating next year.

Gardberg has previously worked as the dean of the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts and the director of the Finnish Institute in London.

The new agency will be formed when the functions of the National Audiovisual Institute and the Art Promotion Center are combined.

New the application period for the director of the department ended already at the beginning of August, and there were a total of 52 applicants.

Among the applicants were, among others, the manager of Kavi Riitta Koivusalo and Kavi’s assistant manager Leo Pekkala.
