Three evening drinks help lower blood pressure

Beetroot juice, chamomile tea, and low-fat milk provide nutrients that help relax blood vessels, relieve stress, and naturally lower blood pressure.

Blood pressure is expressed by two numbers: systolic blood pressure (force of blood when the heart contracts) and diastolic blood pressure (force of blood when the heart relaxes between beats). Hypertension is when blood pressure measured in the clinic is greater than or equal to 140/90 mmHg. Pre-hypertension is when the index is between 120-139/80-89 mmHg, optimal blood pressure level is below 120/80 mmHg.

High blood pressure is often called the “silent killer” because the disease can progress without noticeable symptoms. Stress can cause high blood pressure through both short-term and long-term effects. When stressed, the body releases hormones that temporarily increase heart rate and blood pressure, but regular chronic stress can cause blood pressure to increase over time.

Chamomile tea also helps reduce LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Because LDL cholesterol and triglycerides are risk factors for artery spasm, leading to increased blood pressure.

Low-fat milk

The minerals, calcium, potassium and magnesium found in milk relax blood vessels, maintaining proper fluid balance. This helps reduce pressure on the cardiovascular system while increasing the flexibility of the arteries.

People with high blood pressure should choose low-fat or skim milk products and avoid adding sugar to drinks. People with lactose intolerance can consider lactose-free products or other calcium-rich foods such as oat and almond milk.
