In a joint statement from the Jewish Representative Council of Glasgow, the Jewish Council of Scotland and the Representative Council of British Jews, the organizations responded to the planned annual raising of the Palestinian flag in the Scottish city.
“We are also concerned that Glasgow City Council’s decision in 2024 to introduce an annual Palestinian flag-raising ceremony associated with the UN’s International Day of Solidarity has contributed, in the current climate, to the concerns of the Jewish community.”
“Every community in Scotland must be confident that civic decisions are guided by fairness, balance and a commitment to mutual respect. We remain committed to working constructively with councils and the Scottish Government to ensure all communities feel safe and respected.”
