900 in Montepulciano to strengthen Elly Schlein

“From Montepulciano we want to strengthen the leadership of our secretary Elly Schlein and her management group, because we are the ones who from the first moment, before many others, believed in that political project not out of convenience but out of conviction. We are also the ones who, unlike some friends of the Democratic Party, also know how to read the party statute which provides that the national secretary must guide us in the political challenge”. The deputy and member of the PD national secretariat said it, Marco Sarracino, opening the proceedings of the three days of work of the areas of the Dem majority that supports secretary Schlein.

“Montepulciano was born for keep your attention high on what is happening in the world, on what is happening in Gaza and Ukraine, was created to finally indicate the right positioning of the Democratic Party on international issues. It was created to continue to criticize a development model”, added Sarracino, “which is producing injustices, gaps, inequalities that are no longer acceptable. Today we live in a country where 1% of the population holds 25% of the wealth or where an Amazon worker would have to work 2 thousand years to earn what Bezos earned in just one year. It is not only an issue of social justice, but also of competitiveness that does not hold up. We came to Montepulciano to talk about this, about how we will face the referendum on justice reform, of how solid industrial policies are needed after the work done in recent months, of how to reconnect with the world of schoolnow made up of an army of temporary workers. In Montepulciano we met to prepare the alternative that goes from the construction of a project that can speak to the country, from north to south, to the suffering of an Italy in which poor work is increasing, to which Giorgia Meloni denies the minimum wage, to those four million Italians who give up treatment because they don’t have the ability to access it. A project that addresses the drama of the hundreds of thousands of young people who leave Italy in search of a future elsewhere because they are forced to do so and not by choice.”

The dem parliamentarian reiterates “that we will not retreat from the great steps forward made on the political line by the Democratic Party and its leadership group in these two years. Which have led us to have a different perception among people and led to us being the first opposition force but also the first party in the South. A great project for the country also involves a great organization: we either change the Democratic Party now or we don’t change it anymore. We must tell ourselves this clearly, or we seize the opportunity for a real renewal in the party democratic, particularly in the territories, or we will not have other opportunities because when we return to the government of the country we will not be able to do so renovation that is not scrapping but the construction and valorization of a leading group that is formed only on the quality of the political battle, not because it is someone’s friend but because it builds a consensus in the territory in which it lives”.
