The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange reacted with an increase in quotations to the amnesty petition sent by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to President Isaac Herzog. The leading index TA-35 rose by 1.2%, TA-90 by 2.1%, and TA-125 by 1.4%.
The amnesty request includes two letters – a letter signed by the prime minister’s lawyer, Amit Hadad, and a letter signed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself.
The letter, signed by the Prime Minister, said, among other things: “I have no doubt that the conclusion of the trial will help reduce the level of tension in the public debate that has flared up around this trial. This decision has been made by me and dictated by the Prime Minister’s sense of responsibility for the fate of the country.”
The letter from lawyer Amit Hadad said, among other things: “We write to you on behalf of our client, Knesset member Benjamin Netanyahu, asking you to use your authority and, based on a sense of national responsibility and a desire for the good of the state, to grant amnesty to the Prime Minister and order the completion of all legal proceedings against him.”
