The price of electricity rises on Tuesday morning, but drops close to zero at night

The average hourly price of exchange electricity for consumers (incl. VAT 25.5 percent) rises to its highest on Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock, when the price is 13.1 cents/kWh. This is a high price level that occurs about 20 percent of the time.

The hourly prices stated in the article are averages calculated from the four quarter-hour prices for each hour. The electricity exchange Nord Pool switched to 15-minute pricing from the beginning of October 2025.

After the high prices in the morning, the price of electricity drops sharply towards the evening and night. The cheapest hour on Tuesday is 11 p.m., when electricity costs only 0.3 cents per kilowatt hour. Such low prices are common and occur about half the time.

The price level is clearly typical for Tuesday morning, about four cents more expensive than the hourly price. On Monday, the price of electricity has remained more reasonable, at a level of less than ten cents.
