The fire in Mece engulfed two family houses, and the firefighters from Darda spent six hours extinguishing the fire that first engulfed one and then the other house in the family house. DVD Darda commander Ivica Novak told SiB.hr that the fire was caught in the raging phase.
– At the time when we arrived and the Emergency Helpć she was driving an injured 78-year-old woman to the hospital – he said. The police also announced that the fire did not stop at that house, but spread to the neighboring house owned by a 39-year-old woman. Novak also pointed out that the roof collapsed on both houses.
– Riversč is about an older building built in 1958, with stucco, so extinguishing it was demanding – he said.
In addition to the fact that the roof of one house collapsed and the interior was also damaged, the roof of the other house was significantly damaged.
– I can praise my employees who managed to extinguish the fire after six hours and ten minutes and bring it under control – Novak said, adding that six firefighters with two vehicles came to the scene.
Also, the neighbor Nikola Pauk from the neighboring house described what happened.
– I was woken up by a dog and I heard a noise, so I thought that the chimney was being cleaned at the house of the old woman who lives next to us. We are separated by a two-story house and after a minute I saw that the house was on fire. My roof was destroyed, the “horns” were falling and the ceiling collapsed, and the living room and bedroom were also destroyed. A lot of people offered me helpć in the form of a short-term stay, until some more permanent solution – he said.
