Coupe de France: a smooth entry for PSG and Paris FC

Former handball player Clémentine Darleux and ex-international striker Frédéric Piquionne did not have a heavy hand this Monday evening at the Parc des Princes during the draw for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France. The capital’s clubs, PSG and PFC, will indeed face amateur clubs for their entry into the competition.

Title holder and record holder of the competition with 16 trophies, PSG will face Vendée Fontenay (N3, 5th division), 3rd in its group, for its last match of this exceptional year 2025. A priori no worries for Marquinhos’ partners even if the Parisians had a lot of difficulty last year against another resident of N3, Espaly, in the 16th final (4-2 victory at the end of the match).

A match at La Beaujoire… or at the Parc?

The main difficulty will be to play this meeting on December 21, four days after the final of the Intercontinental Cup, in Doha, against Flamengo, Cruz Azul or Pyramids. “We were just waiting for that. Hosting PSG at home is magnificent, it’s a dream come true,” jubilant Enzo Renou, the Fontenay striker, who traveled for the draw. The location of the match remains to be determined. Fontenay seems tempted by a relocation to Beaujoire, in Nantes, but PSG, to limit its travel, can try to convince its opponent to play at the Parc des Princes.

Promoted this season to L1, Paris FC, in difficulty in recent weeks (13th, one victory in the last 7 matches), should not experience a cold spell at Raon-l’Etape (R1). The Vosges team is 6th in its Ligue Grand Est group.

The last two Ile-de-France clubs have experienced varying fortunes. The Lusitanos Saint-Maur (N2), author of an excellent start to the season (2nd in group C behind Rumilly-Vallières) inherits Lille, 4th in L1. “I would have preferred to come up against a more affordable team but it’s wonderful to be able to face a very good team,” relishes Mapril Baptista, the president of the Lusitanos. I am happy for the whole team and the staff. I hope we can play in our Chéron stadium to have a great party. It wouldn’t make sense to go anywhere else.”

Finally, FC Montreuil (R1) can dream of continuing its great adventure by hosting Chauvigny (12th in its group in N3). A meeting which could still be played at the Delaune stadium in Bobigny, as in the two previous rounds, provided that the French Federation validates the qualification of the Seine-Saint-Denis club. US Granville, its opponent beaten on penalties on Saturday evening in the 8th round, filed a complaint this Monday with the body. “The club noted that several FC Montreuil players should have been suspended for this meeting. Having concrete elements at our disposal, we have transmitted our entire file to the competent authorities of the FFF,” wrote US Granville in a short press release.

“Our 3 suspended players served their suspension match last Wednesday against Tremblay during a round of 16 of the Coupe de Paris, they were well qualified for the match against Granville,” responds Samy Guenfoud, the coach of FC Montreuil. The Coupe de France commission will rule in the coming days but, according to our information, the Norman club’s procedure is very unlikely to succeed.
