Former Athletico midfielder Alex Santana is out of Grêmio’s plans for next season.
The 30-year-old player is on loan from Corinthians to the club from Rio Grande do Sul, but will not remain in Porto Alegre. Furthermore, the athlete is also not part of Timão’s plans, which retains his economic rights. As a result, the player’s future is uncertain. The information is from Rádio Itatiaia.
Still according to the report, given this scenario, the player’s agents are already in the ball market looking for a club interested in Alex Santana. After unsuccessful spells at Corinthians and Grêmio, the trend is towards a transfer abroad.
In July 2024, Timão agreed to purchase the player from Athletico for R$14.8 million. Subsequently, Hurricane went to court to receive late installments of the agreement. He has a contract with the São Paulo club until the end of 2027.
In June of this year, Corinthians celebrated the loan of the midfielder to Grêmio, who agreed to pay 100% of the salaries during the period, in addition to disbursing R$550,000 for the agreement. If it wanted to acquire the athlete permanently, Tricolor Gaúcho would need to pay R$11 million, which will not happen.
Timão is planning a reformulation for next season and does not have Alex Santana. He made just 37 appearances for the club, 17 as a starter, and scored two goals. At this moment, the player is recovering from a muscle injury.
