The District Commission for Design and Construction of the Central District approved the urban renewal plan for Petah Tikva to enter into force.
The plan, promoted by the Urban Renewal Authority and the Petah Tikva Municipality, covers about 2,500 old buildings with about 35 thousand apartments, and includes both earthquake strengthening projects and the demolition of old buildings and the construction of new ones in their place in a “Resettlement-Redevelopment” format.
The full potential of the plan, provided that all buildings are renovated under the maximum scenario, is about 11 thousand new apartments in addition to the existing ones being updated.
The plan establishes mixed uses on the city’s main streets with active building frontages incorporating commercial or public space.
The plan focuses on the development of public and educational facilities, transport infrastructure, expansion of roads, trade and green areas. Preference will be given to “Resettlement-Development” projects.
